Pretty pendant with Media Mixage bezels and Spellbinders craft foil

This pendant with Media Mixage bezels and Spellbinders craft foil is my latest project for Cool2Craft. Click here for the project instructions and video tutorial.

Creating this pretty purple pendant was beyond fun! Click the pics to see things close-up.

Susan Lenart Kazmer
designed these beautiful oval bezels that you can fill with anything from paper to foil to beads to resin and more.

In addition to working with all kinds of wonderful new products from Spellbinders' Media Mixage line, I also was able to repurpose some pretty beads from another pendant that had been broken.

I love how my combination of paper, foil, beads, glitter and glaze turned out. Have fun making one for yourself!

Metal embossed panels

Last month, my ATC group had fun creating these "embossed" wood panels (3"x5") with aluminum tape from the hardware store. You lightly glue down an arrangement of textural elements like netting, twine and chipboard shapes and cover it with aluminum tape. Then you use your fingers and/or a dull stylus (the end of a paintbrush handle works nicely) to gently press the tape into all the nooks and crannies. Paint it with alcohol inks, embellish the top, use metal texturizing fun!

I made the pink fleur-de-lys design in the lower right, and the other three were made by my friends Liz, Cathy and Uni.

Experimenting with watercolor and pigment powders

Recently my local ATC group had some fun playing with a technique where you blend pigment powders like Perfect Pearls in with watercolor to create shimmering backgrounds.

That's true happiness for me...experimenting with new art and craft techniques. Then I'm even happier when I can use what came out of my experimenting in a finished with this 6"x9" piece of leatherette cardstock that I painted, dripped and blended with multiple colors combined with a white sparkle pigment powder. It was just my tester card, but it worked nicely as a foundation for a handpainted greeting card - I added some ribbon and a textured embellishment I made with UTEE.

Today the Designer Crafts Connection bloggers are talking about what kinds of art/craft make them happy - hop through the blogs by clicking on the DCC logo in the sidebar here on the right...prepare to be inspired!
