Vacation shadow boxes - Designer Crafts Connection blog hop

mini vacation shadowbox

It's the first Monday of the month - time for a new Designer Crafts Connection blog hop! This month our theme is vacation memories. I dug way back in the archives and found these super cute mini shadow boxes I had made for a trip to Paris, Disneyland, and a Christmas family visit.

These are really fun to make with paper maché or chipboard boxes with lids. Paint, doodle or stamp the outsides and layer photos and ephemera on the inside. You can poke a hole at the top for a wire to hang your shadowbox like an ornament, pin them to the wall from the inside, or let them stand on your desk or bookshelf.

For the Disney shadow box, I curved a piece of wire and glued it inside to the bottom, then "floated" a picture in the loop. For the Paris box, I cut up a photo to make a little diorama and hung an Eiffel Tower charm inside. It's really fun to play with 3-D effects.

In my new book, Craft Your Stash - one of the project tutorials is a larger vacation shadow box - it includes complete instructions. Signed copies of my book are for sale right now - yay!
