The Designer Crafts Connection is working Decorative Trimmings this month - they have so many different kinds of trims, braids and ric-rac, it will make your head spin! I picked this wide purply sequin trim to embellish a black paper maché box...a little tacky glue and done. Letting the upper strip of trim overlap the lower strip a bit gives the box a cute rounded look.
To embellish the lid, I painted the edge with metallic purple and applied molding paste on top with a palette knife through a round stencil. After the paste was dry (only a couple little boo-boo spots), I rubbed it with metallic teal pigment powder and then glued on a chain of large rhinestones. A handmade treasure box like this would make a lovely gift - for a bridesmaid, Mother's Day, birthday...especially with a pretty pair of earrings or a new lipstick inside.
