my first experiment with encaustics (painting with wax) - so fun! this is a 5" board with batik fiber art paper, glass fragments and various pigments. i love how you can slather on layers and trap things in the wax, and then move it all around with a heat gun to create color patterns and reveal what's underneath.

I've been itching to try this myself and haven't gone out looking for a heat source for my studio yet. some day soon - this is very inspiring!
