my second quilt

i made a family photo quilt for my mom for xmas - it's about 22x28, a wallhanging. i used batik fabrics and e.q. inkjet fabric sheets, and embellished with ribbon, cording, buttons and a metal dragonfly. it's a pattern from super simple quilts #3, coming out in june 2009...a great book for beginners, as are books #1 and #2.

this was fun and fairly quick to make (the hardest part was finding just the right photos), and even though i ended up with some wonky edges, i'm happy with how it turned out, and my mom (upper right) loved it! it's extra special because my father (lower right) died 20 years ago, but these pics make it seem as though he's still right here with us now!

btw - if you ever need your quilt or other art professionally photographed, i highly recommend c&t photography services!

  1. 'Upper right' loves this gift. I hung it up immediately. It will greet everyone coming into my home. The photos of Paul and me were taken in Mexico, not too long after Dad died. Your photo was a little later, right?

Love you..thanks so very much for all you do for us.

  2. Hi Lisa ~

I love your ideas! The quilt you made for your Mom is chose the right is SO
Scharlene! Your Dad was a handsome
man and Paul, well, he's pretty special too! Great family project.

    Love, Sammie
