I taught an art journaling session recently with Graphix Aqua Inks, which are similar to working with watercolor. A feather is a great shape to paint, so organic yet forgiving. You don't even have to draw it yourself, you can trace a shape you like with baking parchment and a pencil. I added some Art Crayon and acrylic paint after it dried.
